Wood Export

Target

The proportion of exported wood attested as legal by a reliable institution increases every year.
Hypothesis

NGOs can operate freely and cooperation is ongoing between MINFOF, the independent observatory and WRI.
In order to ensure environmental and economic sustainability forest timber exploitation, as well as privileged market access, exported wood should be attested as legal by recognised independent organisations. Following the signature of the Voluntary Partnership Agreement on Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (APV-FLEGT) between Cameroon and the European Union on May 6th 2010, a new system to attest legality is being designed and implemented.
